Organize Your Laundry Room

It’s time to get your house in order, specifically your laundry room. Organizing your space can make you feel better and even make you more efficient. Here are some great tips to organize your laundry room.

  1. Create a space that you can work in. By having room to fold and sort laundry, you can make it easier and more efficient to get the laundry done. A small table or shelf that you can work on to fold will help you ensure that you get the laundry done quickly and efficiently.
  2. Make space for the things you need. Do you find yourself running around the house looking for the stain remover? Give up on the laundry because you cannot find the detergent? Buy a small plastic tub or build a shelf for all of your materials. It will not only make it easier to find things, but it will also make you more likely to get the job done.
  3. Make room to sort the laundry. If you have the space, build or place bins for the different types of laundry you may have – darks, lights, and delicates. By sorting clothes as they get dirty, you can easily and quickly place your dirty clothes right into the laundry. Sorting clothes beforehand can help you save time.
  4. Install a clothes rack or bar to hang clothes. By hanging clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer, you can ensure that your clothes will be less wrinkled, reducing the need to iron.
  5. Create an ironing station. Buy an ironing board that comes out from the wall and install shelving above it to hold your iron, starch and other supplies. With an ironing station nearby, you can get your ironing done quickly and efficiently.
  6. Have a lost and found in your laundry room. Add a small basket or plastic tub to hold the myriad of things you may find in your pockets. By not washing these things, you are protecting your clothes and your washing machine and dryer.
  7. Place a garbage bin in the space. A garbage bin can help you when you are cleaning out pockets or you finish the last of the laundry detergent. By removing papers from your pockets before you wash, you reduce the lint and dust that shows up on your clothes.
  8. Create a space to dry clothes that may not go in the dryer. Delicates such as bras and swim suits often do not go in the dryer. A folding rack that can hold these items that is located right next to the washer will ensure they get hung promptly and dry fast.

Your laundry space can be organized to help you get your laundry done faster and better. With a couple of shelves and bins to organize all of your products and laundry you can save time and get your laundry done. Plus, your space will look cleaner and make you feel good every time you have to do the wash!
