  1. Water and Baking Soda Solution

Once you notice a flagrant burn mark, it’s time to create your miraculous solution:

  • Fill up about two inches of your pot or pan with water (the sooner you do it, the better, to avoid dealing with a more stubborn mark).
  • Pour in about a quarter of a cup of the all-purposeful baking soda.
  • Bring the mixture to boil.
  • Let the boiling solution simmer for around fifteen minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and let the blend cool for thirty minutes.

Once you’re done, you can proceed with washing the pot or pan like you usually would, while mildly scrubbing the areas with the burned-on food. You can stay away from scratching the bottom of the pan by gently using a food scraper (preferably plastic).

You can repeat these procedures if the residue persists, or use baking soda in combination with your dish detergent.

  1. Lemon Cleanse

There are many dairy products or other food categories that’ll cause a stubborn stain when burnt on metal, whether it’s iron, non-stick or any other classification. Milk is one of those products that can stick to your pans.

When that happens, just simmer a mix of lemon juice and water before scraping it off with a wooden spoon. Then, just proceed with a regular wash.

  1. Laundry Detergent Rinse

You can also use biological laundry detergent to remove stubborn stains or to prevent them from getting too tough to remove. Pour some cold water into a pot with a few full spoons (or as many necessary in ratio to the water) of laundry soap and let the water simmer for about twenty minutes. Turn off the heat and rinse off the extra residue.

Similar to the way vinegar can remove stains off floor tiles, it can also give an extra cleanse to get burnt food off pans. Just add about ¼ a cup vinegar to the mixture mentioned in tip #1 above and you’ll have a squeaky clean pot.
