Steam Clean Your BBQ Grill for The Summer

Barbecue grills are one of the top sources of food poisoning in the warm months. Grills that are contaminated with the remains of raw meat or even debris from being outside are never a joy to cook on. Cleaning a grill can be a tedious job, and the chemicals commonly used are harsh on the environment and your lungs. Fortunately, you can use the power of steam to clean your BBQ.

Remove the Grate for Easy Cleaning
Scrubbing the grate while it’s in the grill is difficult and ineffective. Remove the grill from the barbecue and set it on a work surface. You will be able to put more effort into any scrubbing without worrying about damaging the housing of your grill.

Remove the Larger Pieces of DebrisHow to Clean a Dirty Barbeque
Start by cleaning away the larger chunks of garbage from the grill. Using a steel-bristled barbecue brush, you can clear the worst of the gunk from the grill. The steam will work more effectively when you take the time to knock off the loose items.

One Inch Works Best
Once your steam cleaner has been filled and heated to full temperature, you can point the nozzle over the grill and start applying steam. Keep the steam one inch away from the grill for maximum effect of heat and power.

30 Seconds to a Minute
One of the keys to steam cleaning is to move slowly. You don’t want to give the grill a quick washing, you want to blast away any debris that is stubbornly remaining. Hold the stream in one place for 30 to 60 seconds at a time.

Follow with Scrubbing
After you have steamed a section for the full minute, collect your steel brush and scrub the steamed area. The debris will easily fall of while it’s still hot, allowing you to thoroughly clean the section and move on to another one.

A Final Spray and Air Dry
After the entire grill has been steamed and treated, you can spray it down with a garden hose. This final rinse will remove any remaining residue. Allow it to air dry before putting it back in place in the grill.

Cleaning the Inside
You can steam the inside of your grill, as well. Once you have manually removed as much caked on food as possible, you can steam the entirety of a still-warm barbecue grill. Simply soak a newspaper and place it in the top of the warmed grill before closing the lid. Wait 30 to 45 minutes for the steam to loosen the difficult stains then wipe them away with a damp rag. Don’t allow the grill to sit any longer, or the newspaper will dry out completely and turn into a larger mess. You can also use your steam cleaner to thoroughly clean inside your grill.

A steam cleaner makes it easy to clean your grill and get it ready for the next big barbecue. It will be safer for cooking the food, and a clean grill is a joy to prepare meals on. Steam is safe, free of harsh chemicals and extremely effective.
