How to Impress Customers with Your Clean Lobby

How to Impress Customers with Your Clean LobbyNo establishment is free of getting judged by its cover. Nowadays, as hotel guests are more reliant on technology, they simply resort to online reviews for a general idea about a hotel’s amenities, with cleanliness being among the first elements to be rated.

Whether your hotel is relatively small or large, when your guests enter the doors of your lobby, it’s a precursor of what they expect to see during their stay. Make sure your hotel’s cleanliness ratings start going up from the second your visitors step in, with these simple techniques.

Daily Tasks

Several aspects of the lobby should be attended to on a daily basis:

  1. Take the trash out and remove any signs of debris.
  2. Dust all tiles and surfaces using a damp microfiber cloth.
  3. Use a degreaser to care for certain areas that need special attention, like door handles and knobs.
  4. Wash windows and remove any smudges, fingerprints, or spots.
  5. Remove any stains or spills instantly, especially those that appear on carpet.

Be sure to pay close attention to the lobby entryway, which should be treated on a daily basis, too.

Weekly Tasks

Lobby floors should be mopped every week (sometimes even more depending on traffic). Start off by dusting, sweeping and mopping floors. Pour about ½ a cup of white distilled vinegar into a bucket-full of water and add a few drops of essential oils for a fresh scent.

Spray-buff the floors. For carpets, vacuum while changing the direction occasionally in order to remove embedded soils that can be stuck within the carpet fibers. Check the vacuum’s filter bag often to assure an effective clean each time.

Use all-purpose cleaners to clean all surfaces and water plants as often as necessary (depending on which particular plants are placed inside or outside the lobby).  Be sure to use air fresheners in the lobby, so guests can get a fresh whiff of a welcoming aroma.

Monthly Tasks

You should conduct the most thorough cleaning processes possible at least once a month:

  1. Check all corners and surfaces for dust bunnies and remove them.
  2. Remove wall marks by wiping them down and look out for any spills or stains.
  3. Dust the tops of doorways, wall art, and/or art structures.
  4. Clean all HVAC vents by vacuuming and dusting them to ensure a good airflow.
  5. All windows should be cleaned comprehensively.

The smallest details make a world of a difference on your guests’ experiences, which is why cleaning efficiently is a must. Designate a team that specializes in cleaning the lobby everyday.
